My Bachelors is in Film/Television Production. After film school, I immediately began working in Los Angeles as a production assistant, and quickly rose through the ranks of the AD department. I honed my skills on low to mid budget projects. This budget range required a more strategic approach to project management and problem solving than the projects with heftier budgets.

Most of my adult life has been anchored in media production as an Assistant Director. Much of my work has been long-form narrative films. However, I've worked on all formats of production - episodic TV, music videos, PSAs, industrial/educational, etc. And more recently, I have stepped into new media by creating and streaming a twice weekly English learning program in China. I opened a private school teaching ESL. I used my editing skills to create classroom and online teaching tools. During this time, I also taught myself animation. My business partner liked the content I created, and suggested I expand the student body nationwide. Shortly thereafter, COVID happened, and the demand for my content exploded. I produced, edited, and broadcast online English learning videos. I used Adobe Premier Pro, Audition, and Character Animator to create, and OBS to broadcast. 

As a 1st Assistant Director, my responsibilities and skillsets included scheduling, budgeting, strategic planning, project management, coordinator, logistics, problem solving, inter-departmental communication, health/safety, conflict resolution, and much more.

At the age of 40, I got a thirst to expand my education. I enrolled in grad school and earned my Master’s in Communication Management/Public Relations. After graduation, I desired some international experience. I thought this endeavor would be better served by learning a secondary language, so I began a Mandarin immersion course. Through this, I was connected to the public school system in Dexing, China. Shortly thereafter, I embarked on my overseas journey.
